APPARENTLY, IT INVOLVES METH, A BUG, AND SOME FRIED CHICKEN:  An idea we've been kicking around ALOTT5MA HQ: would you be interested in a sequel to Wire Wednesdays, in which those of us slackers who've never watched a Breaking Bad episode would unite to do so in 2013? Would you be more or less likely to do so if we accelerated the pace to two episodes/week, in order to catch up in time for the start of the final season next summer?

[Wire Wednesdays are tentatively scheduled to end on February 20, 2013.]

That depends. Is it available in some kind of legal streaming service? I got behind on The Wire due to waiting for discs from Netflix, and that got annoying quickly.

I'm interested, and would be interested in a schedule that let me catch up in time for the final season. I do wonder if maybe the weekly format is hard for people - it really seems to be just me, you, and Watts keeping to the schedule, while a lot of people (I'm looking at you, Sue) seem to have been unable to resist watching the whole thing at once. Perhaps we should set a date to discuss each season and let people marathon or not as they prefer?

  5. I would definitely be up for that, and would like to catch up in time for the final season.

  7. This would be great. As everyone connected to me on social media knows, I'm a complete addict. I'd love to rewatch some, and to see everyone discussing it.

I'm in the middle of watching it with my Tuesday night TV club. I'd happily rewatch to discuss with Thing Throwers.

I've found it difficult to resist marathoning the Wire (but I have). I think Breaking Bad would be similar, especially some of the more compelling storylines that don't get resolved in one hour. With The Wire, you know you're always in for the slow burn each season. With Breaking Bad, the pace is more volatile.

I vote YES! My husband and I watched the entire series during September-October. Night after night (my husband re-watched it with me, and continually gave me the heads up to "remember [fill in the blank]; it will be important later on"). It was great. I would love for you guys to finally dive into a show that I watch! (I'm not complaining or anything like that, but I like to feel "in the know.")

  13. Nah, I only watch tv shows after they've been off tv for a few years and Russ has tired of begging me to watch it.

  14. I don't beg. If you don't want to experience the sheer joy of Breaking Bad, that's your call. :)

  15. I believe my husband and I are in. We will undoubtedly race thru the whole thing.

In related news, we are almost done with season 1 of Homeland. We started on Saturday....

  16. Yes! I'd be watching for about the 5th time through, but this time on my newly-purchased Blu-Rays. (I do love the show so much..).

And yes to finishing in time for the end of the series.

This may be the only way to get me to stick to watching it as there is no way the husband would be interested in watching it.

Definitely yes - Wire Wednesdays were the push I needed to get started on The Wire, even if I ultimately raced through all five seasons. I'm okay with any schedule - but finishing up before (or close to) the beginning of the new season would be a bonus.
