YOU SAY FRAN-CHESCA, I SAY FRANZ-QUESTA: I have seen my share of crazy before on Survivor, but not since the dude who babbled about "holes" in his body has someone made an impression on me the way one competitor did tonight, forcing the greatest punctuation mark in Survivor history. Holy crap was that one fun tribal council, especially for the first one.

Everyone's got a strategy, and everyone's talking about it. Awesome. (Even if Rob and Russell having the same strategy is a bit troubling.)

added: Denhart: "During all this, Jeff Probst’s mouth dropped open so wide you could have fit Russell’s entire ego in it."

  1. Also, anyone who saw Rob on All-Stars knows that "do X and I'll protect you" is not a promise he's intereted in keeping.

I am guessing Philip will be voted off toot sweet, given his inability to keep a secret and his mansplaining.

I suspect Russell is failing to compensate for the fact that the last 2 times he played, no one had ever seen him play. Using the exact same strategy now is idiotic.

I think there's a strong possibility Rob is baiting people in, feigning his old strategy to play off their perceptions and gain a strategic advantage. As for Russell... I don't know if he's clever enough to think of that tactic or humble enough to deploy it.

Teriffic Tribal -- watched it twice. The "plan" Kristina hatched was pretty short-sighted and bad, but it never ceases to amaze how easily something can come completely unraveled on this show.

Loved Francesca, both during the ep and especially at Tribal. Loved the mouth pop Phillip offered by way of wrap-up. And really loved the way Rob summed up after all the insanity by saying something like "Anyway, I'm going to vote the way I came here to vote, with the people I came to vote with" -- beautiful way of signaling his alliance to stick to the plan.

Phillip is already isolated now, so it doesn't really matter if he goes next, or next+1 -- he's not going to be entrusted with any more key information. [POP!]

So, unless there's some weird change in tribal dynamic between now and the next time they head to TC, I'd expect Rob and Crew to take a similar approach and split their next TC votes between Kristina and Phillip, forcing Kristina to use or lose the HII.

  7. Except they're already up 6-2 in their tribe; *someone* has to realize that she's priority number 5 or 6 in the group and need to flip while there are still numbers to do so.

Agree with Adam C - Rob did a great job of smoothly telling his group "hey, stick to what we said, NO ONE PULL A TYSON ON ME!"

Adam - I doubt that any of the groupie girls in Rob's alliance are going to wise up and realize they need to flip, but maybe I've been watching too much Bachelor in the off-season and am therefore underestimating the brain capacity of these bikini-clad chicks. (I sincerely hope so...)

    Amazing start to the season.
