OR GET OFF THE POT: Via SomethingAwful, the least essential Wikipedia page of all -- "defecation postures."

I hate to say it, but there was actually a really interesting piece in Deadspin a couple of years ago about wiping postures.  Basically, Big Daddy Drew determined that there are two groups of people out there -- people who stand to wipe and people who remain seated while wiping -- who had no idea that the other group existed.  Drew printed a ton of emails from both sides, saying "I had absolutely no idea that anybody did it the other way, and it is completely weird."  He figured that there was maybe a slight majority of sitters, but he (as a sitter) had no idea that anybody would ever stand.  Then, a couple of weeks later, he printed correspondence from people who tried it the other way.  Basically, the standers who tried sitting were like "my god, this is amazing, it's clean and effective"; and the sitters who tried standing were like "you would have to be a complete idiot to do this more than once without looking for a better way."

As a sitter, it was gratifying.  I thought about posting it at the time, then thought "nah, this is too gross even for me."

I read that article in class, during a series of presentations, right before my university went to break and I was absolutely dumbfounded that ANYONE would ever stand to wipe. My only reasoning was that perhaps they learned it because parents often wipe their children while standing during the potty training process.

    Step 1:  Unbutton cuff.
Step 2:  Roll unbuttoned cuff up to elbow area.
Step 3:  Sit down, remain seated, and TCOB.
Step 4:  Upon completion, reverse steps 2 and 1.
    Step 5:  Profit.
