HE'S A SEMI-AQUATIC EGG-LAYING MAMMAL OF ACTION: So, I have to ask. Anyone here as obsessed with Phineas and Ferb as all four members of the Cosmopolitan household? We've been watching it (and listening to the soundtrack, which I love) for ages, and somehow had totally missed the part where it became the next big Disney juggernaut. We're always surprised that other people watch it, but apparently we are not alone.

My only gripe, and it's a pretty big one: the boys are brilliant, creative, and good-natured, while big sister Candice -- Disney queen Ashley Tisdale, for those of you playing along at home -- is whiny, insecure, and boy-crazy. Hmph. The platypus community, however, should be proud of their portrayal.

  1. What'cha doin?

Lucy is a big, big fan.  It's slightly to sassy/disrespectful/sarcastic for what we'd prefer she watch, but it's better than iCarly in that regard.

We're a little obsessed over here, too, although I think Dave and I watch more of it than the kids. I may or may not have created a FB page for adults who love P&F.

I love the Ferb (and the crazy grandparents).  HI LAR IOUS.

How did I not know that Ashley Tisdale is the voice of Candice?

Um, I mean, no, I've never seen it.

This is huge in our family - son loves it, and I may or may not have watched it by myself in a hotel on a business trip.  Maybe.  We frequently quote Dr. Doofenschmirtz ("As they say in Mexico, "Dasvidaniya!" Down there, that's two vidaniyas.")  But what I love most are the musical numbers - the songs are incredibly catchy and clever, especially early in the first season (We're getting the band back together and back to the beach are great episodes).  I have not yet broken down and purchased any P&P toys, though I've thought about it.

Let's try that again - I'm familiar with it.

  8. "[S]assy/disrespectful/sarcastic"?  Really?  In addition to thinking that it's tremendously intelligent, I actually love that it's NOT "sassy/disrespectful/sarcastic."  In fact, I was just listening to or reading something in which the creators talked about how one or more of them had worked on Family Guy, and were self-consciously trying to do something here that avoided any sort of mean tone.

On the main question, I think it's smarter than many "adult" shows.

That was my point about P&F being good-natured -- they seem like genuinely nice (albeit animated) kids.  Even Dr. Doofenschmirtz seems kinda nice.

  10. Then maybe it's just in the way that Lucy's learning from the wrong characters.  I do love the music.

I feel your pain.  Jonah picks up every bit of nasty from Spongebob.  Although maybe the problem is that we let him watch Spongebob.

I think what's even weirder is the the voice of "Dad" is Richard O'Brien, better known as Riff Raff from the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

P&F is awesome.  I have the soundtrack on my Ipod, and just earlier today I was singing along with Gitchee-Gitchee-Goo on my way into work.  It's such a sweet show, and the music is absolutely fantastic.  The Love Handel reunion is still my favorite episode.

So what you're telling me is that this show is just full of awesome, beyond what i already knew!

Voice of the little-heard Ferb?  Thomas Sangster, the adorable son of Liam Neeson in ALOTT5MA fave Love, Actually.

The girls I babysit for love Phineas and Ferb.  Having sat through the pain of Zach and Cody Semester at Sea (or whatever it is called), and Hannah Montana, Phineas and Ferb is my hands down favorite.  I am not surprised at all that my ALOTTFMA friends appreciate it as well...

Of course we watch it!!! Honestly, I get a sound bite here and there, but the most outstanding part of the show (in my humble opinion) is the song, "Mom, It's Your Birthday"--it's adorable.

That is awesome.  Did not know that and now it will color my view of him.

And he's going to be playing Paul McCartney in the upcoming movie "Nowhere Boy," which I will have to see just for him.
He's terrific in everything:  Nanny McPhee, Dr. Who, Phineas and Ferb, and Love Actually - the kid's got a range.

Gitchee Gitchee Goo is my second favorite song after the full theme song (...let's make sure that in every single possible way, today's gonna be a great day), which was my song of the summer.  Screw Katy Perry.

We also like "Little Brothers" -- "'cause you're younger, we're related, and you're boys."

Doofenscmertz Evil, Inc. is my ringtone on the cellie.  "Evil Love" is also a great song.  His catsuit wearing daughter Jessica is pretty cool.  Just love the dang show and its joke-a-second wonderfulness.
