BRAD WHITFORD ISN'T THE ONLY SORKIN ALUM WITH A BITCHIN' STACHE: The West Wing welcomed a number of guest stars who've since gone on to bigger things--some easy (yes, we all remember Lisa Edelstein and Taye Diggs' recurring role) and some not so much (Phil Dunphy! A non-mustachioed Ron Swanson!). How do you fare on the quiz?

I totally took that as soon as Mental Floss tweeted it, and I didn't do all that well. I CANNOT BELIEVE I never knew about the Ron Swanson one, because that episode is definitely in my top 5 most watched West Wing episodes, with that scene being the main reason I watch it. (I also missed Belding, Scolari, and Ty Burrel the first time).

I got all but Ron Swanson, although usually by process of elimination rather than actually knowing which character the actor played (and outright guessing with the ALF question).

  3. I got all but Scolari and kept going back & forth on that one. A few others were process of elimination but I'm good with 10 out 11. Oh and the actress from Kate & Allie (not listing WW role so as not to spoil for anyone who looks at the comments before taking the quiz) was also one of the original Annie's when that show first launched on Broadway and toured the country.

Terrible. And it's not like I haven't seen most of these episodes, though "Big Block of Cheese Day" sounds like something I'd have remembered. Still.

7/11, and I totally flubbed on the Kate & Allie actress and Big Block of Cheese Day.

9 out of 11.  I feel like I should have gotten Big Block of Cheese day.

  7. Got them all, several of them via process of elimination.  But yes, I have watched the show a few times...

9 out of 11 missing Ron effing Swanson and Peter Scolari.  I also could process of elimination a good half of them but a few I just knew which were not always big obvious people.  I LURVE the WW.

10 of 11 (and missed on the Mallory question).

I rarely make it through an ep of modern family w/out yelling "my father was a rotarian"

Also there's going to be a preview of the new BW fox show in a few weeks... definitely looking forward to it, despite the 'stash

    (and i miss TWW too)

  10. I got all but the guy who played Ellie's husband, because I read it as Liz's husband. And the Kate and Allie threw me because I knew the name of the actress that played Mallory but never put it together that that was the Kate and Allie girl.

  12. 10 out of 11, although I got a lucky guess on Ty Burrell.  I had no idea Dennis Haskins was one of the guys in the scene where Leo drinks Johnny Walker Blue!

Got em all, but it was a lucky guess on the Geico caveman guy. Lots of process of elimination here.
SO many good before-they-were-starts bits. Tony Plana from Ugly Betty shows up as a high-level military guy in a few episodes too. And, of course, Terry O'Quinn wasn't so famous when he did the show.
