CAN I BORROW YOUR ODORANT? Disney/Pixar to release Monsters Inc. 2 on November 16, 2012; also coming from the studio will be Pirates of the Caribbean 4, the Muppet movie Jason Segel was scripting, the round-the-world Cars 2 (6-24-2011) and, this June 18, Toy Story 3.

  1. I hope this also means that we finally get the Monsters, Inc. coaster ride that they've talked about for a while at Disney World.  I'm not a coaster person, but that seems pretty awesome.

  2. I love Pixar movies more than most anything in this world...but please, people, enough with the sequels.

  3. I'm down with Pixar sequeles if they are as good as Toy Story 2 was.  [High benchmark, I know.]

Not to mention that one of the finest Jim Henson muppet vehicles I can remember from my childhood, Dog City, is now available on dvd.

Watch the trailer here- while I loved it as a kid, I think it's probably for a slightly older crowd. If you love dogs as gangsters, my friend, you've come to the right place.

  5. I don't mind sequels when I think there's more in that universe to be explored--I'd have a problem with "RatatTWOuille" or "Finding Nemo Again" because those stories are done, and I don't know that there's more to explore--I think there's definitely more to explore in Monstropolis as a concept (as there would be with an "Incredibles" sequel).

That said, "Cars 2" seems like a complete cash-in.  (That may just be because I think "Cars" is probably the weakest of the Pixar movies--felt like it was designed to sell toys to little boys.)

I'm not a huge sequel proponent, generally. However, if there's a creative cabal working today that I trust, it's Pixar, so if they think they can do Monsters Inc 2 justice, I'll be first in line to see it. As noted, they did a fantastic job with Toy Story 2, and the early review on TS3 are fantastic. So on with the adventures of Mike Wyzowski and Sulley! Squee!
