IF YOU DON'T LIKE THIS BOOK, I WILL BUY YOU A DR. PEPPER: My longtime friend, Steve Knopper, has written a new book, Appetite for Self-Destruction, which is a must-read for anyone interested in the sordid tale of how the major music labels self-immolated over the past 25 years. From the introduction of the CD to the battle over Napster to the birth of the iPod, Knopper, clever title aside, colorfully chronicles the whole sordid tale with a great eye for detail. And seriously, the soda offer stands, lest I run afoul of Axl Rose.
