I LOVE IT THAT SOMETIMES, FOR NO REASON, YOU'RE LATE FOR SHUL! Fully recognizing that "hey, read this awesome thing on the AV Club!" is the laziest form of my blogging, let me nevertheless point you towards today's clip-filled appreciation of Wet Hot American Summer, a film I first wrote about here in October 2003. It is a brilliant parody of the tiny subgenre of turn-of-the-80s-summer-camp films, and Scott Tobias aptly notes, "If you're a middle-class Jew who came of age in the early '80s, watched a lot of television, and are given to nostalgia for misspent youth, Wet Hot American Summer is the movie for you." And you get Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Bradley Cooper and Christopher Meloni, among others.

If you haven't seen it, try the "planning a reunion" scene, or start with the film's opening six minutes.
